Artist Residency Exhibition Mar 2026
The Art of Eco-conscious Colour ‘ exhibition at the Cambridge Festival exhibition it took inspiration from Diana Scarborough’s one-year art-science residency ‘Tailored Pigments’. It was funded by a BBSRC grant (UKRI) as a collaboration between researchers and industry.
With a sustainable heart of growing colour from bacteria, the exhibition is a creative journey told through sketchbooks, prints, pigment making, sound and film as a multimedia response to the innovative bacteria-based textile dyeing processes and pigments and plant-based processes she learnt from her scientist/researcher/biomaterial collaborators. They included Fruk Lab, (Dept. of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology), Norwich-based company Colorifix and Lifefabs Institute.
In addition to showing her sketchbooks documenting her creative explorations, art prints, an interactive soundscape in a lab coat, she made a film, ‘The Art of Eco-conscious Colour’
