Latest Album by SOSP – Jun ’26
Celebrating our latest album release by the Sounds of Space Project, a sonic odyssey to Antarctica inspired by sound recording by scientist researcher Kat Turner (BIOPOLE project, British Antarctic Survey) on the RSS Sir David Attenborough voyage in 2025.

Kim Cunio, our composer and musicologist uses full scoring, improvisation and digital composition to accompany these Antarctic sounds that include:- penguin calls, engine room sounds, the chilling wail of wind, lonesome calls of fur seals from Husvik Bay and the sounds of the ocean.
Sounds and climate concerns lie at the heart of this unique album by the Sounds of Space team including the artwork which is purely analogue. Eleven paintings have been created by Diana Scarborough as a direct response to each track and the ‘Darwinian’ intention of the album in its entirety
This text from Darwin, our final piece, sums up our second sonic voyage to Antarctica:
“There is grandeur…
From so simple a beginning
Endless forms, most beautiful”
(Charles Darwin)
