INVISIBLE DRAWING – Mar 2023

Drawing the Invisible & Power of Light -Cambridge Festival Mar 2023

As Artist-In Residence with Fruk Lab, Dept of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Cambridge, Diana Scarborough collaborated with scientists to create events for the festival.

For the invisible drawing or ‘Drawing the Invisible’, visitors were invited to use pens and pencils to make visible the world of molecular machines, nanoparticles, biomolecules and cells on large scale ‘invisible; drawings inspired by the work of the multidisciplinary research group. Ultimately, the completed drawings will not be the end of the story, but the beginning of the journey as a work in progress that will continue living online and through future collaborative events.

The ‘Power of Light event was an art film installation by Cambridge artist Diana Scarborough.  ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’ was inspired by a real-life experiment in the lab, AI and Alice in Wonderland. While watching the looped film visitors were invited to’ draw in the dark’ using UV light inspired by the art film and their own imagination.

Thank you to Fruk Lab and the festival team for being part of it the public event . And a  big thank-you to artist-filmaker Eileen Haring Woods for the footage and stills that I used to create the film.
