Ways of Water’ Film Events
The ‘Ways of Water’ short film-poem created by Diana Scarborough with audio and poems by Ruth Padel was a micro-commission for the Rivers of Film Festival in Cambridge in September 2025. Since then, her film has appeared in other events:-
19 Mar 2026: As a projection onto the walls of Cambridge University Library at the opening night of the Living Water Exhibition – Poetry, Art and the Fight for Clean Rivers
25 June 2026: Film Screening at Pembroke College, Cambridge with film-makers Q&A and poetry reading by Ruth Padel as a special event for the Living Water Exhibition – Poetry, Art and the Fight for Clean Rivers. Dr Mark Wormald, Director of Studies at Pembroke and co-curator of the exhibition chaired the event.

About 'Ways of Water' Film
A cross-genre film is a montage of poetry, sound, visuals and music, influenced by three bodies of water within walking distance of where the filmmaker lives: Nine Wells, Byron’s Pool and the River Cam at Grantchester.
Through a lens imbued with Scarborough’s creative videography, sound recordings above and below the water it is a narrative led by Ruth Padel’s poems from her’ Twenty- Four Splashes of Denial’ (Ruth Padel © 2020) recorded for Extinction Rebellion, (later reworked into Watershed, Ruth Padel, Hazel Press 2023) with music from the Sounds of Space Project.
Scarborough’s film is ethereal and intense; an artistic expose of the importance of water to life, the damage we are causing not only in our local waterways but within a global context!
